Your employees no longer need to log into a different platform to request for a leave. They can apply for a time off - directly from the Slack app. There are two ways of applying a time off from Slack. This guide will help your employees in understanding both the processes:


Method 1: Employees applying for time offs from the Freshteam channel home screen 

  • STEP 1: Let your employees open the Slack app and navigate to the ‘Freshteam’ channel
  • STEP 2: On their screen, they will be able to click on a button named ‘Apply Time Off’.



  • STEP 3: A popup will appear on the screen. Your teams should fill in necessary information such as time off type, start date, end date. They can add a note and notify certain stakeholders as well.





  • STEP 4: As an admin, you can configure the time off types. For instance, for certain time off types, you can ensure that your employees mandatorily add attachments, while for some time off types, they can proceed and apply for a time off without an attachment.



  • STEP 5: As a next step, they have to click on ‘Apply Time Off’ to successfully apply for a leave.
  • STEP 6: Please note that as an admin, you can configure your team’s time offs. For certain time off types, employees might need manager approval. In such cases, once the employee has applied for a leave, their manager will be notified for an approval. 



  • STEP 7: Once their manager approves or declines the time off request, the employee will be immediately notified of the same.




  • STEP 8: Your teams can click on ‘Cancel Time Off’ or ‘Apply for Another Date’ to either cancel their leave request or reschedule it.








Method 2: Let your employees apply for time offs using Slack shortcuts

  • STEP 1: Your employees can open Slack app and go to ‘Freshteam’ channel
  • STEP 2: As a next step, they have to click on the ‘Freshteam’ icon and search for shortcuts



  • STEP 3: They should search for ‘FreshteamBot’ and click on the same.



  • STEP 4: As a next step, your employees should select ‘Apply Time Off’



  • STEP 5: A popup will appear on their screen. All they have to do is fill in necessary information such as time off type, start date, end date. They can add a note and notify certain stakeholders as well.
