There’s no one-size-fits-all time off policy. Based on the company’s culture and values, location, federal rules, and employee requirements, companies provide different types of time off. This could be Sick leave, casual leave, jury duty, optional leave, maternity leave, and so on. In Freshteam, you can set up multiple time off types, have individual carryover rules for each type, make it gender-specific, and a lot more. In this article, we’ll show you everything around time off types. 


Creating custom time off types in Freshteam

  1. Head to Settings, and scroll down to the Time off section. Go to ‘Time off type’. 

  2. Click Create New time off type on the top right.

  3. In the pop-up that follows, provide the name, description of the time off type. You can also add a color code if need be. On clicking ‘More options’, you can enable auto-approval, make it paid or non-paid, or make it gender-specific. 

  4. If needed, Make it mandatory for your employees to provide a note.

  5. Hit Save


Alternatively, you can create a custom time off type while configuring a time off policy too. While configuring the time off policy, you can further customize the treatment of each time-off type.
